Guided Meditation
Meditation is an important part of chronic symptom recovery because it calms the nervous system, reduces fear and tension in the body, and rewires the brain’s pain pathways over time. When the brain feels safer and less overwhelmed, it sends fewer danger signals and pain decreases. Meditation is also widely shown to support overall health by lowering stress, increasing emotional resilience, and strengthening compassionate awareness.
Meditation is a broad term, and different techniques (such as affirmations, somatic tracking, compassion and yogic meditations) can subtly support different outcomes.

#1 Somatic tracking
This is a gentle mind-body practice where we observe a chronic symptom with curiosity instead of fear, helping the brain reinterpret the sensation as safe. The exercise is threefold; by shifting your attention in this way, the nervous system reduces its protective alarm response, bringing your nervous system from fight or flight to a state of rest and repair. When this practice is repeated, with outcome independence, it allows the brain to strengthen these new neural pathways, which can help symptoms to soften over time.

#2 Body scan
By getting in touch with our body, without judgement, we calm our nervous system and bring us into a state of rest and repair. We get out of our heads into just being - merely existing is enough. If you have the time after the meditation is completed I encourage you to lay here a little longer and bask in pure blissful awareness, Savasana.

#3 Brief noting practice
This practice is an intuitive blend I made of other healing modalities, including somatic tracking and emotional awareness and expression therapy. It helped me in my own healing of many years of chronic symptoms and I still use it today when I feel overwhelmed or have a minor symptom visiting me. You can do it as long or brief as you like and wherever you are.
